Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) will deliver donations to remote Alaska Native villages that have been hit hard by high fuel and food prices.
Palin has faced criticism for not responding to the village crisis, The Anchorage Daily News reports. But the donations are not from the state -- they were collected by a Christian organization.
"Is she finally realizing that our villages are in dire straits?" asked Myron Naneng, the president of the Association of Village Council Presidents.
Palin and Christian evangelist Franklin Graham will deliver 44,000 pounds of food and other items to villages along the Yukon River.
