An Indian woman was hospitalized after suffering numerous injuries during a dog attack at Nambe Pueblo in New Mexico.
Josephine De Vita, who is Lakota and Cheyenne, was bitten by several dogs last Friday evening. Her husband was also bitten but managed to call former tribal governor Dennis Vigil for help.
"It was 15 minutes of the most terrifying experience of my life," husband Tony De Vita told The Santa Fe New Mexican.
"I've never seen anything so bad in my life," added Vigil. "Her legs looked like hamburger meat."
De Vita has lived at the pueblo for 38 years. She said she keeps her dog on a leash after it bit a boy.
