Leaders of the Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians of California are looking for ways to resolve and enrollment dispute that nearly led to a recall of the tribal board of directors.

After tribal members voted to remove 73 people from the rolls the board of directors began discussing ways to resolve the issue. But a disagreement led two directors to attempt to recall Chairman Harvey Hopkins, who then sought to recall his detractors.

Both sides agreed to withdraw their recall petitions and said they will try to iron out their differences. At issue is whether the board of directors can protect the 73 people on its own or whether the entire tribal membership has to vote on the issue through a referendum.
