A former aide to Sen. Judd Gregg (R-New Hampshire), who is President Barack Obama's nominee for Secretary of the Commerce Department, is under investigation for his ties to jailed lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Kevin H. Koonce, 37, is identified as "Staffer F" in court filings, according to news reports. He is accused of accepting more than $10,000 in sports tickets, meals and drinks from Abramoff and Abramoff's associates.
According to The Washington Post, the Department of Justice called Gregg to inform him of the investigation after Obama made his Cabinet announcement. Gregg said he was told he is not a target of the probe.
