Tribes give $30K for gym on Blackfeet Nation
Two tribes donated $30,000 for a new gym at a public school on the Blackfeet Nation in Montana. The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians of California donated $20,000 and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota donated $10,000 to help Browning High School finish the gym. The Chumash donation is the largest made to the school. "We understand the importance of school athletics not only for the students but for the community," Chumash Chairman Vincent Armenta said at a tribal council meeting on Friday, The Great Falls Tribune reported.
