Bryan Newland, a member of the Bay Mills Indian Community of Michigan will be working for Assistant Secretary Larry
EchoHawk, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, in Washington, D.C.
Newland will serve as a special assistant to Del Laverdure, a deputy at BIA. He announced his new job in a post on Turtle Talk today.
"I hope to make the most of this new opportunity by doing good work; and, I also hope to make my fellow Anishnaabek and Spartans proud," wrote Newland, who attended Michigan State University College of Law.
