The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is opening the doors to its new apartment complex.
The Tatewin Apartments are named for the late Darlene Allen Bernard. Her Indian name was Tatewin, or Wind Woman.
Phase one of the project cost $4 million and features 13 units. Phase two, which will be completed in the spring of 2010, includes another nine units.
Funding came from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota.
