Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, the Ivy League school known for its Native community, welcomes a unique student this fall.
Don Rains, 45, will be the oldest member of the class of 2013 But the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate man isn't worried about his age.
"Everyone works to try and figure out what their calling is. I’m just a little farther along in that process," Rains said in a press release from the college. "I want to bring something to the college and to the students."
Rains, who plans to explore his love for art at Dartmouth, didn't find out until later in life that his grandmother was Sisseton-Wahpeton from South Dakota. His Dakota name is Wankinyan-Atunwanpi-Hoksina, which means Thunderbirds Watch Over Him.
