The Crow Tribe of Montana is reportedly near a deal on a bill to settle its water rights.
The tribe has been working with Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana) and Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) to resolve issues that affect water users in Wyoming. Barrasso, the vice chair of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, has raised concerns about the impact of the settlement in his state.
The settlement resolves the tribe's claims on the Bighorn River. It would provide $527 million for water projects.
Tester also sits on the Indian Affairs Committee.
