Indians of Minnesota is offering a $14,00 reward in connection with a fire that destroyed the tribal headquarters this week.
The tribe believes arson is to blame for the early Monday morning fire. “Several Elders called to express their sorrow over the fire that destroyed the building,” Secretary-Treasurer David Morrison told The Tower Timberjay News.“Some of them said it was like losing a member of our community.”
The tribe incidentally was already planning to break ground on a new government and community services facility to house some of the offices that were in the headquarters.
Construction will move forward as planned, with an $8 million loan from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux
