A grassroots organization on the Navajo Nation plans to sue the tribe for what it calls excess spending.
Hada'a Sidi says the Navajo Nation
Council approved a resolution that allows the Navajo Nation President and the council to engage in unrestrained discretionary spending. The group says the resolution goes against Dine Fundamental
Law.
"We of Hada'a Sidi feel that the time has come to clearly establish the principle that the Navajo Nation's resources and monies belong to the Navajo people and the Navajo Nation government has trust and fiduciary responsibilities to use resources and monies wisely," the group's president said in a statement, The Farmington Daily Times reported.
The group has 60 days to file its lawsuit.
