Puyallup Tribe seizes items placed on auction
Agents from the Puyallup Tribe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs cooperated with the owner of an auction house that was set to sell several historic items.

The tribe believes the items were stolen from the home of elder Ramona Hawthorne, 88. A man who was hired to take care of her house is apparently turning himself in to tribal police.

Hawthorne didn't think she would ever seen the return of the property, which include rare Coast Salish baskets and beaded items. They belonged to her grandfather, a former tribal leader.

Alan Gorsuch, the owner of Sanford and Sons Auction House, thought he purchased the items legally and contacted the tribe out of concern.
