Trooper in Muscogee Nation scuffle placed on leave

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who was involved in a scuffle with Muscogee (Creek) Nation paramedics has been placed on administrative leave, The Tulsa World reports.

Trooper Daniel Martin will continue to receive his salary while the OHP investigates the May 24 incident. A second trooper who was also at the scene doesn't appear to be affected.

Martin stopped paramedics Paul Franks and Maurice White Jr. while they were transporting a woman to a hospital Video shows Martin, at one point, placing his hands around the neck of one of the paramedics.

The Okfuskee County District Attorney Max Cook has declined to bring charges against any of the people involved. Neither Franks nor White were cited for the incident by the troopers.

The Tulsa World has requested video from Martin's dashboard camera but the OHP won't release it. Cook says the video should be released.
