California's top insurance official reported only two donations to his inaugural fund in the past years and both of them came from tribes.
Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner racked up more than $375,000 in bills for his 2007 inaugural fest. But he had $375,000 in outstanding bills up until last week, The Los Angeles Times reported.
"It hasn't been the highest priority in the world, so now it's gotten old enough that I think it's not worth trying to raise money for any more," Poizner, who is seeking the Republican nomination for state governor, told the paper.
The only two donations in the past two years were $25,000 from the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation and $50,000 from Mainstay Business Solutions, an employment firm owned by the Blue Lake Rancheria.
