The family of the late S. Timothy
Wapato announced funeral arrangements for the noted tribal advocate who died on April 19 at the age of 73.
A prayer service and wake will be held at 7pm on Thursday at the Mother Butler Center, St. Isaac Jogues, 220 Wright St, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Mass and burial service will be held at 10am on Friday at Mother Butler Center.
The Reverend Father Paul Sneve and Chief Arvol Looking Horse will preside over services.

Wapato was a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation in Washington. A former police officer, he served as executive director of the National Indian Gaming Association and was the first executive director of the Columbia River Intertribal Fisheries Commission. He served on the commission that negotiated the Pacific Salmon Treaty between the U.S. and Canada.
