North Dakota governor names Indian affairs director
North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven (D) named Scott Davis as the executive director of the state's Indian Affairs Commission. Davis is Standing Rock Sioux and Turtle Mountain Chippewa. He has worked for the United Tribes Technical College, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and in the private sector. "Scott's focus on education, wellness and youth will serve the Tribes and the State of North Dakota well," Hoeven said in a press release. "We look forward to working with him to strengthen our Native American communities and to help ensure that they share in our state’s economic growth." Davis replaces Cheryl Kulas, who is retiring after serving more than eight years in the position. Get the Story:
