Update: Naayaitch Friday was a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming. His body was found on San Ildefonso Pueblo. Carl Romero, a teen from nearby Ohkay Owingeh, has been arrested in connection with the murder. More from The Santa Fe New Mexican.
A member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation of New Mexico was found dead on the reservation of Pojoaque Pueblo over the weekend.
Naayaitch Friday, 26, was shot in the chin, according to a local police report. The FBI has taken over the case since Friday was found in Indian Country.
Friday was a father of four. He worked for the YouthWorks, Santa Fe Youth Conservation Corps.
"We're all extremely crushed," Melynn Schuyler, the group's executive director, told The Santa Fe New Mexican. "There's great sadness around YouthWorks over this."
Friday's death was the second on the reservation in as many weeks. An area man was the victim of a hit-and-run incident that reportedly involved a Pojoaque Pueblo leader.
