A 19-year-old man from the Samson Cree Nation in
Alberta pleaded guilty in connection with the drive-by shooting of a toddler.
Christopher Shane Crane admitted he fired a shot into a home on the reserve on April 13, 2008. The bullet hit Asia Saddleback, who was 23 months old at the time.
Saddleback recovered but the bullet remains lodged in her spine. "She's going to have to live with it, still," Asia's mother, Candace Saddleback, told CBC News.
Crane said fired the shot in hopes of intimidating gang members he had seen there. Authorities say about a dozen gangs are active on the reserve.
