Canada will tell its side of the story of a First Nations land dispute before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
The Hul'qumi'num Treaty Group of British Columbia says up to 810,000 hectares were illegally taken from the First Nations. They say they have been unable to resolve the issue with the Canadian government because the disputed area includes privately-held properties.
After hearing from the First Nations last October, the IACHR will hear from the Canadian government on March 23. Canada says the treaty group can pursue its claims in court and through the treaty resolution process.
The dispute will be heard in Washington, D.C.
