Members of the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation might vote on a referendum on the "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo of the University of North Dakota.
A tribal member who supports the name says the tribal council will consider the issue on Saturday. John Chaske hopes the vote will lead to a better relationship with UND.
The school agreed to eliminate the name and logo unless it could win the support of the Spirit Lake Nation and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, whose leaders have already rejected calls for a referendum.
