The National Museum of the American
Indian will put its entire 800,000-item collection online, a project that is expected to take at least four years.
Most people aren't able to visit NMAI's three facilities, said director Kevin Gover, a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. So the website will give people a chance to see the collection.

The site launches on Monday and will feature 5,500 items and photographs.
