The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee has begun a confirmation hearing for Tom Daschle, who is nominated for Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Daschle is a former senator from South Dakota. He was an advocate for tribes and individual Indians during his time in the Senate. He would oversee the Indian Health Service if he is confirmed.
The committee's web page for the hearing doesn't appear to be working properly. C-SPAN 1 is covering the hearing.
