New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) withdrew from consideration as Secretary of the Department of Commerce on Sunday, making him the first casualty of the incoming Barack Obama administration.
Richardson cited an ongoing federal investigation that involves a company that contributed to his political campaigns. The company has won million-dollar contracts with the New Mexico state government.
