The Bush administration ignored scientific evidence by limiting water flows in Grand Canyon National Park, The Washington Post reports.
Last year, the Interior Department hailed a five-year "experiment" to restrict high water flows on the Colorado River. But internal documents indicate the prior administration ignored studies that say high water flows are beneficial to fish runs and to the ecosystem in the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon Trust is suing Interior over the new policy. Secretary Ken Salazar declined to comment on the issue but has promised to respect science in making decisions at the department.
