Some members of the Santa Ysabel Band of Diegueno Indians are trying to recall their leader.
Vice Chairwoman Brandie Taylor is leading an effort to oust Chairman Johnny Hernandez from office. She said he has refused to provide information about the tribe's financial state.
"We decided that in order to make real changes, not only would he need to be dealt with, but we want to make sure the next chairman will follow the constitution," Taylor told The North County Times.
Taylor said tribal members want to amend the constitution so they can have more say in government matters.
