All 722 governmental employees of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut have been offered a voluntary buyout package.
Those who accept the buyout will receive up to a half year in pay and health benefits. That's more than the maximum 20 weeks that a laid off employee would receive.
Employees who accept the buyout will work until December 31. After that, involuntary layoffs are possible.
