A 19-year-old member of the Navajo Nation will be sentenced today for first-degree murder, identity theft and forgery.
Galareka Harrison was found guilty in September for killing Mia Janelle Henderson, who was Navajo. The two were roommates at the University
of Arizona. and were participating in the Native American First-Year Scholars Program.
Harrison faces at least 25 years in prison but could get out early with parole. Henderson's family is asking for a sentence without parole.
Henderson was 18 when she was killed in September 2007. Harrison was 18 at the time.
