An Oklahoma man was sentenced to nearly six and one-half years in prison for an attack on Kickapoo land.
Jesse Smith Trevino Jr. pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to cause bodily harm. He admitted he attacked another man in April 2008 with two machetes while the two were working on a tribal ceremonial project.
Trevino was ordered to serve 77 months in prison and to pay more than $38,000 in restitution.
