The fifth annual Native Eyes Film Showcase takes place Friday-Sunday in Tucson, Arizona.
The event is produced by the Arizona State Museum and Hanson Film Institute in collaboration with the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian. It features seven films and shorts, including "Older Than America." "Four Sheets To The Wind" and "Imprint."
Georgia Lightning, who is Cree from Canada, directed "Older Than America," which stars Adam Beach. She said it's difficult for Native talent to find roles in Hollywood.
"We don't get to play normal human beings. I'm hoping my integrity pays off one day and there will be decent roles out there," Lightning told The Arizona Daily Star.
