The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations is calling for a public inquiry into the police-related shootings of eight Native people.

Since 2006, four Native people have died in police incidents. Another four were shot but survived.

"This is not just a First Nation issue," FSIN vice-chief Morley Watson told CBC News. "This is a Saskatchewan issue, and we would hope that the provincial government would step up to the plate, work with us and hopefully, that collectively, we can find some of the answers that remain unanswered at this time."

An inquest was just concluded into the 2006 death of Delbert Pelletier, who was shot by police at his home on the Muskowekwan First Nation.
