Zach Gann is only a senior in high school but he's already learning how to run a business thanks to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Gann obtained a loan from the tribe's Micro Enterprise Adult/Youth Opportunity Loan Funds program. He used the money to expand his cattle business.
“The loan helped me to extend my business, which produces more money for me to prepare for my college education and future,” Gann told The Journal Record. “This has been a great opportunity for me because it has allowed me to look ahead into my future as an adult. It has been a real learning experience.”
The program is open to all federally recognized tribal members who live within the tribe's jurisdictional area. Department of Housing and Urban Development provided funds, which were matched by the tribe.
