Tribe of South Dakota is finalizing the results of an election held on Tuesday.
Unofficial returns appear to show Russell Means with the most votes for president. The American Indian Movement activist and actor has run for tribal office several times.
If the tally holds, Means will either face state Sen. Theresa Two Bulls or incumbent President John Yellow Bird Steele, who. was trailing in votes to Two Bulls, the first Native woman elected to the South Dakota Legislature.
Final results are due to be released today.
