Northwestern Band plans geothermal plant
The Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation is tapping into its natural resources with a geothermal plant.

The tribe broke ground on a $450 million plant that will convert the Earth's hot water to energy. The city of Riverside, California, has already agreed to buy power from the plant for 30 years.

Once the tribe secures financing, the plant will be built in three phases, with the first phase to be completed in 2010.
