A judge has blocked leaders of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska from trying to banish the superintendent of the public school on the reservation, The Omaha World-Herald reports.
The tribal council voted in May to suspend Morris Bates and two other administrators at the Omaha Nation School. Bates was escorted to the reservation border by a tribal police officer.
Judge Darvid Quist said tribal leaders can't interfere with the school district or its employees. Bates has been able to return to work despite the banishment.
