The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma will see four new health clinics under a resolution passed by the tribal council.
The resolution authorizes three medical clinics and one dental clinic. Funding levels still have to be established.
The council passed another resolution affecting the tribe's takeover of the W.W.
Hastings Indian Hospital in Tahlequah. Indian Health Service can choose to remain federal employees if they wish.
The tribe envisions an "Indian Mayo Clinic" at the site. Long-term plans call for separate outpatient clinic, a new outpatient surgery center, a new facility for doctors' offices, a new medical support building and a new center for future programs.
