A former police officer for the Navajo Nation is being charged with the murder of his girlfriend.
Harrison Largo was charged in 2002 with savagely beating Freda Toledo Smith and her daughter. But the charges were reduced after Smith reportedly stopped cooperating and the couple got back together.
Largo now faces a murder charge after Smith died of gunshot wounds on May 20. When police responded, Smith was still alive and reportedly identified Largo as her assailant.
The incident occurred off the reservation in New Mexico.
