Council delegates say they still support the purchase of a hotel in Gallup, New Mexico, despite a veto by President Joe Shirley Jr.
Delegates passed a bill to buy the Inn of Gallup for $6.6 million. Supporters believe the hotel will generate business for the tribe's first casino in Churchrock, near Gallup.
Shirley vetoed the bill, citing the high cost of the hotel and $2.6 million in renovations. But delegates say the deal makes good business sense.
