The "Pink Paddlers" are once again taking part in this year's Tribal Canoe Journey.

Roberta "Birdie" Kimberly came up with the idea three years ago after she survived breast cancer. The crew uses pink paddles to honor those who have cancer and those who succumbed to it.

Most of the crew are women but the skipper is Harry Moon, who is from the Musgamakw Tsawataineuk First Nation in British Columbia. Moon lost his uncle and father to cancer.

About 33 canoes are taking part in this year's journey, which ends on the Cowichan Reserve in B.C.
