The Arizona
Supreme Court refused to take an Indian candidate off the ballot for the state Legislature.
State
Sen. Albert Hale (D), a member of the Navajo Nation, is running for
re-election. His nominating petition includes post office boxes from tribal
members who live on the reservation.
Republican Royce Jenkins claims the P.O. boxes are invalid. He says
petitions must list a person's physical address but lost his case in the state courts.
