A fund has been established to help an urban Indian center in Phoenix, Arizona, that has been forced to halt services due to an explosion and fire.

The sixth floor of the Native American Community Service Center was damaged by the explosion and fire last week. No one was injured but most of the staff has been placed on administrative leave indefinitely.

“We are still assessing the damage. All services were shut down immediately," Patti Hibbeler, the CEO for the Phoenix Indian Center said. "As of now, we have electricity but it is still unclear how long it will be until the building has air conditioning."

The 85,000 square-foot building houses Native American Connections, the Native American Community Health Center and the Phoenix Indian Center. It is designed as a "one-stop" shop for urban Indians.

The fund for the center was established by the Desert Schools Federal Credit Union.
