Joe McCoy was sworn in as chairman of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Michigan on Wednesday.
McCoy defeated incumbent Aaron Payment by a vote of 3,853 to 3,495. McCoy will serve four years in his term.
Also sworn in were six members of the tribe's board of directors. Former chairman Bernard A. Bouschor was elected to the board.
