Voters of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians ousted incumbent chairman Aaron Payment, according to unofficial election results.
Darwin "Joe" McCoy defeated Payment by a vote of 3,853 to 3,495. "I am really humbled about how things turned out," McCoy said in a press release.
Voters also elected former chairman Bernard A. Bouschor to the board of directors. Bouschor served as chairman prior to Payment.
