The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes signed a new agreement to manage some functions at the National Bison Range in Montana.
The 19,000-acre range is located entirely within the Flathead Reservation. The bison herd descends from animals that were raised by tribal members.
The tribe's first annual funding agreement was dissolved amid complaints from some U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service employees. Top Bush administration officials decided to pursue a new deal.
