Merle Pearce, a 21-year-old member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, is spending the summer with his NASCAR idols.
Pearce is part of the NASCAR Diversity Internship Program. He is being employed by Hendrick Motorsports for the second summer in a row and gets to work on cars driven by Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and other stars.
"I've done so many cool things since I've been here,” Pearce told The Oklahoman. "This is just as good as it gets.”
Pearce lives in Durant, Oklahoma.
