Democrats from the White Mountain Apache Tribe are hosting four candidates for Arizona's 1st Congressional district.
Jeffrey Brown, Mary Kim Titla, Ann Kirkpatrick, and Howard Shanker are scheduled to appear at the forum on June 10. The event is sponsored by the White Mountain Democrats.
Mary Kim Titla, a journalist and founder of Native Youth Magazine, is a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. She is the only Native candidate in the race.
Howard Shanker is an attorney who is representing the Navajo Nation in a sacred site case. He appears to have support within the tribe.
The district includes parts of the Navajo Nation, the Fort Apache Reservation and the San Carlos Apache Reservation.
The incumbent is Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Arizona), who announced he was not seeking re-election after he was indicted on federal criminal charges.
