Byron Yellowhair, a 24-year-old member of the Navajo Nation who was one year away from graduating from Arizona State University, was killed in a pedestrian-vehicle accident in Phoenix.
Yellowhair was hit as many as 20 times by multiple vehicles on Interstate 10. It's not clear why he got out of his car and was walking on the highway.
Friends said Yellowhair planed to return to the reservation to teach. They said he struggled with alcohol and recently came off of house arrest for a drunk-driving incident.
