California tribes donated $179,000 to send state Republicans to the 2004 Republican National Convention, the Associated Press reports.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians donated $129,000 and the California Nations Indian Gaming Association donated $50,000. The donations were among the largest to the California Republican delegation.
This year, the California Delegation Host Committee is asking donors for even more money. The GOP convention takes place September 1-4 in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota.
