The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut plans to lay off employees today, The New London Day reports.
Hundreds of employees could lose their jobs, the paper said. It's part of the tribe's effort to reduce spending.
The tribe wants to cut $40 million from its budget. Tribal members have presented a petition to demand a say in the process. A tribal court hearing was held yesterday on the petition, which the tribe says is invalid.
