Tribal elders praised the superintendent of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota for asking them about ways to improve interpretive programs at the national memorial.
Elders from the Dakota, Lakota and Nakota tribes are attending a summit organized by superintendent Gerard Baker. They said tribal history should be presented accurately.
"We have to try to give accuracy and correct information about the Lakota people," said Lula Red Cloud, The Rapid City Journal reported.
The summit started yesterday and concludes today.
