Klamath Tribes back Klamath River agreement

Members of the Klamath Tribes of southern Oregon voted to support an agreement to eliminate four dams in the Klamath Basin.

The Klamath Tribes are part of a coalition of tribes, farmers, water users and environmental groups who announced the $950 million agreement last month. The removal of the dams would help salmon and restore water flows, supporters say.

The deal faces opposition from PacifiCorp, the company that owns the dams, and the Hoopa Valley Tribe of northern California.
